To validate the reciprocal link please include the following HTML code in
the page at the URL specified above, before submiting this form:
What does this mean? Where do I put it in my blooger blogs? Does anyone know what I'm asking about here? I tried adding as a third party html and it was rejected. Do I have to put someplace specific in the blog's html?
On blogs, what does this mean with html and links?
My guess is you are submitting a link to your blog to a website or online directory of some sort?
Well they want you to link back to them. The html code represents a link back to their website. They want you to place the html code on a page in your website or blog, then provide the URL to the page on which the link was placed.
They will then check the page you put their link on to 'validate the reciprocal link'.

My blogs aren't showing up and I haven't changed my settings, anyone having this problem?
When I first logged onto my 360 page I could see all my blogs, and I went to post a new one for today, and now none of them are showing up, I have not changed my settings to where I can only see them. I asked another 360 friend if they could tell me what one was showing up and they told me that none of them were. So what is going on?
My blogs aren't showing up and I haven't changed my settings, anyone having this problem?
well its not helping..we get directed here and who helps us?..i have same problem i post its on update page then zilch..
also my highlighted blogs lead to no where dam..all the update are screwing up yahoo..pleaase someone come help us
Reply:I'm having the same problem!
This is the second time this week. I write up a blog, you can see it on my top page but when you try to read it (poof) it's gone.
Like Melissa Yahoo 360 Help directed me here.
I would like to know how to fix this.
I have very important things to blog about, you know people what to hear about a 35 year old married woman and the antics of her 3 little boys, what I’m making for dinner and if I got all the toilets cleaned today;)
Reply:I am having that problem, in fact, when I went to 'help' to ask about it they directed me here. I'm really annoyed...not a very good help desk, if you ask me.
Sorry it's happening, glad I'm not alone.

Investmnent blogs for newbies?
I just started a new portfolio and would like to join some sort of blog or online community to discuss the market/stocks/picks etc. with other newbies. Any ideas?
PS: I'm really enjoying following my ETFs , so blogs iwth emphasis on ETFs would be great too!!
Investmnent blogs for newbies?
There are a number of message boards / websites that are helpful.
www.fool.com - great for general investment education
www.investorvillage.com - message board for individual stocks
www.seekingalpha.com - really good website that provides investment ideas and that can educate you on how to evaluate stocks.

Websites? Blogs?
I was wondering how many people at YA have their own websites and/or blogs. More importantly WHAT is the topic of your site or blog?
I have two sites.
The first is about art and music education (Recommendations for Books, CD's, and DVD's)
The second has Recommendations (Lists) of books about Science, Math, History, Picture Books for Children, Fantasy Books, Sci-Fi Books, Romance, Mysteries, Spy/Military Novels, Classics, and Recent Teen Fiction.
Websites? Blogs?
I want to start a blog website, but I'm not sure where the best site is. Maybe you can offer suggestions for me where to go. Mine would just be about random topics. Yours sound interesting, you should put the links up.
Reply:You mentioned you wanted to start a blog website, go to www.geocities.com, you could start a site for free. You could also post blogs on Yahoo Blog 360. Hope that helps.
I have a site through Geocities, check it out if you like.... http://www.geocities.com/pinka... Report It

Myspace blogs? want points?
so my girlfriend has blogs, but they are hidden by her profile layout, is there any way i could get to them, i think she wrote one about me. help?
Myspace blogs? want points?
Yes you can BUT you first have to find her friendID to do that you go to her myspace page, look up at the link to her page and find the word - - %26gt; friendID=
That number after the word friendID, all the way up until the %26amp; will be her friendID.
Put her friendID at the end of this link then this link will take you to her blog.

Such Blogs?
How do bloggers build such blogs as http://tmore1.blogspot.com/
that become successful? or is that just exaggerated?
Such Blogs?
Blogs work.
They're designed to serve a couple of critical purposes. First, a blog is an easy way to upload green content. Second, it produces user-generated content - free. Third, if you maintain an interactive blog, you'll start to see the same posters each week. You're building a site community.
So, in addition to posting regularly, your blog posts should be:
- provocative. Express an opinion and let the thread grow on its own.
- provide posts for all levels of reader expertise so there's something for everyone.
- call your regular posters by name. Hey, we're all family here.
- stay on topic.
- check for accuracy.
- block the whack jobs who just gum up the blog with rants and screeds. Of course, this kind of post does generate interest, but it's like watching a car wreck - you don't want to but you just have to look.
A successful blog doesn't just post often. It posts quality, fresh opinions that encourage discussion among those return visitors.
And that's what you want. Visitors who keep returning and spending to buy your products or services.
Hey, good luck with you're blog. They're fun.
Best,
Paul Lalley

Reply:Hi tmore,
Most blogs that are successful get traffic that is built up over time. The key is to keep on adding posts to your blog and then you start to get search engine listings and loads more traffic.
Also i notice on the example blog you have there that they are using feed burner and a couple of free ads ons that allow people to keep on coming back to your blog by RSS feeds or to bookmark the blog to social bookmarking sites so this can helps as other people spread the word for you.
You can also get more traffic by setting up a wordpress blog as this has loads more add ons.
But the golden rule is to keep posting and you will get traffic depending on the subject!
Hope this helps!

My blogs have all disappeard?
None of my blogs are showing anymore, what happened to them all?????
My blogs have all disappeard?
If your blog permissions haven't changed, I think you are part of a 360 glitch, my friend.
I had the same problem and contacted the Yahoo 360 team via their "YAHOO 360 HELP FORM" at http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/360/for... . Basically, it's an ongoing bug. Keep in mind that 360 is still in beta. They also have a blog which tracks fixes as they are made, see http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360 .
My temporary solution: First, contact 360 via that "YAHOO 360 HELP FORM" so they can look at it. It will likely take a day or two. Then, post another blog entry. It always resets everything for another 4 to 5 days. Then, of course, it will disappear again. Expect it. Also, editing the latest entry sometimes has the same effect.
Definitely submit the form if doing the above tips doesn't restore your blog - i.e. if it's completely gone.
Good luck!
Reply:Are they gone or just hidden? Only the first 5 or 6 blogs show up on the page, then there are navigational links on the bottom right of the page that should lead to the older posts. Of course, anyone can click on your calendar links to the left of the blog. Thanks for voting! Report It

Myspace Blogs?
What do you put in your blogs on myspace? Know of any sites with cool stuff?
Myspace Blogs?
Well go to your homepage, and click on manage blog.
Then you'll see a page that says "you currently have no subscriptions...etc" on the left hand side of that page you'll see a box 3rd from the top that says my controls.
Click on the first link that says post new blog.
Then you just type what you want and click preview and post.
A good website would be youtube.com or funnyjunk.com
Good luck!
Reply:i like just writing intresting things that happen in my life..
im not sure of any good ones but it sure is entertaining

McCann blogs?
For all those YA people who continuously ask and answer McCann questions, please can you all give a link to interesting blogs (or blog postings) that give both sides of the argument (pro and anti) perspectives...perhaps this is a good way to avoid personal attacks and see where we are all coming from.
Here is mine: http://trannyfattyacid.blogspot.com/
McCann blogs?
good for you,i wish that there was more factual, unbiased, reporting of this story, leaving aside the slurs, and character assassinations, and just clear reporting of the facts.

How do I retrieve blogs hat I had previoulsy posted?
I changed my Avatar last night, Now, I can't retrieve the blogs that I had previoulsy posted .
Only the last few blogs will show.
How do I retrieve blogs hat I had previoulsy posted?
Hmm...that's an odd one. I don't think changing your avatar should have anything to do with your previous blogs disappearing. If you look at the bottom of your page (blog page) you should see the words Next/Previous. If you click on those it will either take you to your NEXT blog or your PREVIOUS blog. If you don't see those words at the bottom of your blog page...then I'd say that you have a beta bug working on your page and you should send a beta feedback form to Yahoo explaining in detail the problem.

Can blogs on myspace be restricted?
can blogs on myspace be restricted so certain friends can't see them, but the public can?
Can blogs on myspace be restricted?
yes they can be restricted so that only people on your friends list can read them.
i think you are able to block them individually. at the bottom of where you write your blog there should be a section that asks who you want that blog to be viewed by.

Have blogs been superseded yet?
My wife and I are developing a web site and would like to put an ongoing story on it, we have been told by friends to start a blog on the site and we are wondering, the way things are outdated, if blogs are still current or is there a new thing out now?
Have blogs been superseded yet?
Blogs are not outdated really, nor will they ever be in all likelihood.
Alot of web sites nowadays have a blog in addition to other things like pictures, links, etc.

Language and gender in blogs/discussion forums?
language and gender in blogs/discussion forums?
Hello. I am doing a project on language and gender on either weblogs or discussion forums.
For this project i have to collect data, but im having trouble knowing how many blogs to collect or how many discussion forums to use.
I will also be conducting a linguistic analysis on them with is part of the project, such as the use of internet language (emotions, linking), conversational style such as use of evaluation, pronouns and intensifiers and multimodality. I will also have to look at metaphor if there are any and comment on the length of post
If there is anyone who has already done work on language and communication in relation to an online environment, i would be grateful for any help.
Obviously i think i need quite a substantial amount, but the questio is how many would i need to look at?
Language and gender in blogs/discussion forums?
I don't know. Ask aol.
Reply:Hi, i'm studying a degree in lingusitics and for my alevels i studied language and gender and language and communication for my language change paper. Although For my coursework i did language acquisition, i still had to collect data and well you need a resonable amount of data. So what i would say is, collect blogs/instant messaging conversations of maybe 10-15 girls and 10-15 guys. You have to make sure that they are all the same in length, so say it may be a 10min conversation (which may show you who responds quicker out of the gender showing better turntaking). There is alot of stuff on language and communication you can get a hold of to help you, there is also alot to in these books on language and gender. And what you can do is then come up with your own results with support from your own analysis.
The books below are what i used to revise for my language and communication exam so hopefully they'll help you out. They key is to make your analysis and support it with someones theories or even state how you're analysis doesn't support those theories. And when placing you're data, make sure you analyse that because you get marked for that too so annotate it like hell!
Hope that helps!

How do you put pictures into blogs? ive tried "url"s and it didnt work
Myspace blogs?
If you are using myspace to post the blog they also have an icon for images. Click the icon that looks like a tree and enter the URL for the image. No html skills needed.
Reply:you have to use more than just the url. you have to use the html img tag with the url inside it.
%26lt;img src="put-the-url-here"%26gt;
you should have learned html and style sheets. even if you never plan to have your own web site you still need to know them to edit a blog.

How to implement the blogs in a website?
I m building a website with dreamweaver, and want to put the blogs on it. Is there anyone who can tell me that how can i build blogs page with dreamweaver?
How to implement the blogs in a website?
Basically if you want an automated blog system, you'll have to program it - there is no function in Dreamweaver for this. Time to learn PHP or ASP methinks!

Some blogs should be banned... who's with me?
The most obnoxious blog ever (heaven nose) bashed my friends blog (who's a really good writer) down in a recent post. I read the whole thing and it's really too rude and not even funny. I wrote to blogger.com but they said they couldn't do anything about it. Who thinks these blogs written by these pricks should be suspended?
(i wouldn't read this heaven nose blog it if I were you guys, cuz I don't wanna generate traffic for them)
Some blogs should be banned... who's with me?

The Stampeders lost 30-21 to Saskatchewan after having a 21-5 lead. How could the blow it and miss their deserved trip to the 94th Grey Cup?
November 6th
Some guy on Yahoo! Answers wants blogs to be banned. I totally agree with him. Blogs are evil.
Reply:blogs that are rude to others should be banned
Reply:It's called free speech.
Reply:So what you're saying is that if someone's opinion isn't the same as yours, it should be banned? Come on. If you put something out there on line, you have to expect some sort of public response - positive or negative.

My blogs for myspace?
i cant see my blogs for myspace, so what should i do? codes? or such?
My blogs for myspace?
If your blog tables are hidden, then you must have a code hiding it.
Look for this to delete.
table.latestblogentry {display:none;}
Of course, there are multiple codes that can be used to achieve that, so the fact that you didn't provide a link to your NON-private profile makes it difficult.
If you want, before this question closes, email me your Myspace url, ensuring that it isn't private, and I can seek the code you must eliminate.

Will Blogs be a Paid service?
Considering the popularity of blogging services like blogger.com and wordpress.com, do you people think that these services will eventually become paid services. How's blogging profitable to the companies which provide huge infrastructure to host enormous number of blogs.
Will Blogs be a Paid service?
Many blogging services already have options where you can pay to have more features on your blog... for instance a person with a free blog might just have the basic blogging tools, but a person with a paid subscription could add more photos, use different fonts, etc. Also many free blog services profit from the advertisers that pay to put their company's banners on the blogs.
Reply:i hope blogs don't become a paid service!
Reply:Don't give your email address that you used in business.
Reply:No, I don't think so. I think they will just end up having more advertising and will make money that way. They will probably start selling info like email addresses to data companies to make money to keep up with the cost for maintance.

Political Blogs -- for students?
Does anyone know of any political blogs aimed towards high school / college age students? They don't have to be entirely political, but at least cover political topics?
Political Blogs -- for students?
I don't know about being specifically geared towards students, but Politics1 has an extensive list of political blogs categorized as kind of neutral, right, and left. From the main page just scroll down and they are listed in a column on the right hand side.
http://www.politics1.com/
Reply:I would take it as a personal kindness, if you were to visit myverdict.net.
If you like it you could inform other students via student council or student union websites.

Yahoo blogs?
Why are the yahoo censors so quick to give me violations but are so slow on the blogs? I'm tired of looking at that endurance question.
Yahoo blogs?
The blogs operate with a different set of Terms of Services, different rule set.
Since a blog can be designated as 'Adult', Yahoo will allow more adult content there.
Since Yahoo Answers has no such 'Adult Only' section, they have to come down on it harder

Do blogs count as published works?
When I applied for a part-time teaching position at a local college, I was asked to provide a list of my published works. Though I have had some articles published in hard copy, most of my work has been through blogs. Would a blog count as a published work?
Do blogs count as published works?
No. Your work has to go through a publisher in order for it to count as published work.
Reply:I don't believe so. Blogs are just like online diaries or journals. A regular journal wouldn't count as published works so neither would an online one. The college is looking for credibility not online blogging.
Reply:No, a blog is not a published work. If it were, think of all of the MILLIONS of "published authors" there would be out there.
If you're unsure, ask the people you'll be interviewing with and gauge their reaction to your question
Reply:Well, technically, it is a published work, but not in the sense that you're asking. Publishing is actually a very simple term that merely means "To produce/release to the public". Since a blog is online, virtually anybody could get to it if they wanted to.
However, it sounds like what they are asking for are peices of yours that have been printed by an acclaimed publisher with a printing press and the whole nine yards.
Still, if you use the simplified definition, we're all published authors. I like that. But probably for your application, you should stick to what they mean
Reply:Not really. A blog does not undergo editorial review- so it is not really a publication.
It can be used to prove your ability to write - especially if it is quoted by some other source (the more famous the better)
A publication, to be of any use, would have to be in a journal of some repute. Eg. The Lancet once used to be a highly esteemed scientific journal, but that was before they abandoned science and went into politics. Nowadays it counts the same as a publication in the National Lampoon
Reply:Only if you copyright it.

Has anyone else been having problems reading or writing blogs? I have'nt been able to do this for 3wks now, and its really pissing me off. HELPPPPPPP any suggestions on fixing this? I have reported it to yahoo, but they have yet to do anything about it. I have even tried uninstalling, and reinstalling yahoo without any luck in resolving this. My blogs can not be seen?
I have written blogs, published them but no matter what level I give to be seen only I can see them. My first blog worked correctly but now none are working
My blogs can not be seen?
Check to make sure that you didn't set ADULT CONTENT setting on your blogs. Go to settings, blog settings, down at the bottom is where you will find this setting. Make sure that there is NOT a check mark in the box. If this still doesn't make your blogs able to be seen then I would say that you have a beta bug working on your page. Send a beta feedback form to Yahoo explaining the problem in detail. Also go to the Yahoo 360 Team blog and leave a comment about it there. Here is the link to their blog:

I'd say it will stay down. They claimed to have server issues.. I guess they have massive copyright issues instead. The servers could have been fixed weeks ago..
I guess I'll have to say good bye to my personal blog. I'd never use this service again. Not even we bloggers got an e-mail regarding the downtime.

I don't know about you, but I think this girl's way of writing is pretty cool(see source). I think she's pretty cool too. Hmm, Singaporian
I reckon she's pretty cool ae, like how she doesn't really go into heaps of details.
Although she doesn't blog that much, I visit it everyday and look forward to everytime she posts a new entry

Some blogs are really rude, I think blogger should ban those, who's with me?
The most obnoxious blog ever bashed my friends blog (who's a really good writer) down in a recent post. I read the whole thing and it's really too rude and not even funny. I wrote to blogger.com but they said they couldn't do anything about it. Who thinks these blogs written by these pricks should be suspended?
(i wouldn't go read it if I were you guys, cuz I don't wanna generate traffic for them, but should you be interested, here's the link anyway: http://heavennose.blogspot.com)
Some blogs are really rude, I think blogger should ban those, who's with me?
I really recommend going with a blog that is totally moderated. So when you use it, and people RESPOND, you can delete their content before it appears at the website.
Yahoo 360 has many advantages. Try it.
Good luck
Reply:Excercise your right to not read things that offend you, by not reading them.
Reply:All i can say is free speach. Not much you can do. They aren't going to suspend someone cus it offended someone. Do you relize how much content can offend other people and that such. It would be a massive domino effect.
Reply:I'm not with you cause that is free speech. But the blogger is an ok writer not the best i ever read.
Reply:As rude and obnoxious they can get, that is freedom of speech at work
Reply:nope...freedom of speech...it's for everyone, no matter how rude, bigoted, stupid, etc, etc, etc.
Reply:No, I dont agree with you. No one has to read the blogs, and I do not want our right to free speech hampered any more than it is already......geezh!
There are always going to be rude people, and they do have a right to express themselves as they wish, it is just words. If the words are not true, they will fall away with time, dont even worry about it.
No one has to read an offensive blog, just click out.

Do blogs exist to increase the wealth of an owner?
I guess it all depends on what you want to achieve with your blog. People have different opinions, if you had asked Liz from "Successful-Blog ".....I think her answer would be something along the lines of - “Blogging is about your passion to write and produce interesting content to share with others”. ...Darren from " Problogger".... may have a similar view but we all know he earns a bucket load from blogs and whilst there may be passion, I’m sure he wants to “increase his wealth” as well.
So you have two different goals. To increase your wealth or to blog for passion.
WHY DO YOU BLOG
Do blogs exist to increase the wealth of an owner?
I don't have any blogs right now (I have written some but they are right now hidden and not public yet). I can think of three reasons I want to blog:
1. I would be interested in getting a lot of friends in the near future (mostly pen pals). I think, pointing them to months of my thoughts might enable them to a better understanding of me. I am tired of my repeating starting conversations with pen pals.
2. impress people (hopefully) with what will write and just the fact that i'll have a blog (kind of, hey, i have my own blog, you see)
3. get feedback from people about my thoughts
4. to establish and improve a good writing style, writing habit
That said, as I mentioned in the beginning, I ain't got any now, but hoping I would in the future. I have thought a lot about my ex girlfriend's blog when she was travelling and we both have discussed quite a bit about blogging in general. i guess that's why your question made me respond this easily.
Reply:There are innumerable number of reasons why you should blog. Listing out all those is virtually impossible. However, here are some reasons why you should - Blog for Fun, blog to add color to your life, blog to take control of your life, blog to earn, blog to yell, blog to express yourself, blog to relieve yourself, blog to talk your heart out, blog to let others comment, blog to let others share, blog to inspire, blog to tell the truth, blog to spread the news, blog to communicate, blog to share your joy, blog to share your thoughts, emotions, opinions, blog to make others laugh, blog to make others cry, blog to awaken, ... ... ... blog for that, blog for this.
If all these are not reasons enough for you to blog ... then blog for no reason at all. Blog just because you want to, you don't need anyones permission to do it.
Blogging is as wide as talking to the whole world and as private as talking to your own self. Blogging is a reflection of the multiple angles of your own self. Don't be left behind. Start Blogging today.

The meaning of Blogs?
It seems the word Blogs is a common expression. Showing my ignorance, Can someone give me a clear understanding of the meaning of (Blogs)
Thanks
The meaning of Blogs?
Blogs are like an online journal where people with too much time on their hand type about their days. I normally blog when I want to rant. Common blogging sites would be Xanga or LiveJournal.
Reply:A blog is more than a online journal. You can write about yourself and your experiences, but you can also write about something else... and make comments about what's going on. It's like an extension of who you are... Report It
Reply:Blog is a term that came about from the two words "web log." The first two letters were dropped and a new word was formed from the remaining four.
Look it up.
Reply:A space where people can type whatever the heck they want and a bunch of curious people come and view it.
Reply:Personal or corporate website in which the author writes, as their reflexion on a given subject evolves, their opinions, impressions, etc., so as to make them public and receive reactions and comments about them.

Is it just me or has blogs become a way people just vent unnecessary? When blogs began, it was cool cause it?
gave people a way to express their opinions on the issue being discussed (whether it's politics, entertainment or just general news). But I have noticed that as blogs become increasingly popular, people just write angry hateful things, and a lot of times their comments are unrelated to the blog entry. Are people using blogs to whine about their life or insult someone else's cause they know people will read it?

Xanga. I've blogged there since I was about 13. It's funny though, becaue I have done the same... ranting angrily, or telling about my day. So yes, I agree with you. BUT some people use blogging as a sort of online diary (as I have). Writing it in an actual journal takes forever, especially if there is much to say. So typing it online to share with friends is faster, perhaps more helpful since your friends can also give you their input and advice.
Then again, people want others to feel sorry for them. That's the case if they always complain about the same thing over and over. Now THAT'S annoying.

Think about it. How much time do you spend around someone who does nothing but piss and moan and be angry? They need an audience, so blogs are the perfect scene for that.
I am a member of a knitting blog ring. It seemed a good portion of the blogs were angry women who rarely discussed their topic of knitting. I remain a member soley because I know a lot of women keep their private lives private and go online for entertainment or knowledge, not to read someone's tirades.
Reply:I started my blog to vent about life here in New Orleans after Katrina. That's all it was at first, then as things here began to calm down, I started writing about other things, personal stuff, and posting the occasional youtube video. Lately, with the 2nd anniversary of The Storm coming up, I've back to ranting about Katrina and New Orleans. I'm not out to convert or insult, and if any of my readers don't like what they see, they know they are free to leave. My page is open to anyone who wants to just drop by.
Reply:Have you ever heard of Web 2.0? Well, basically, Web 2.0 is a new Internet that's made by the people, for the people. So, people read blogs because they're realistic. And people want to write blogs because they think that it makes them cool, because that's what people want to read. The reason that the Internet was not written by the people until just recently is the same reason that the people cannot elect the president without an electoral college: people just aren't intelligent enough to handle it. Blogs are becoming increasingly popular, but they are getting increasingly boring, just like most trends. It's just a trend. Now the "cool" people have a hold of it and it will fall apart soon enough.
Reply:I do not think it is just you. Blogs used to be forums for exchanging information/ opinions. Now it seems they are for ranting against differing ideas and pushing their own agendas (agendae?). Sorry, I'm a tad goofy.

Music in 360 blogs?
The only way to get music into your blog is to either post a video or a flash toy mp3 player and set it to start playing automatically when the blog is opened. Just go to Pimpmyyearbook.com and get the mp3 player and follow the instructions on how to do it all.
Reply:If you want to use your own music, you can create an account at a file-hosting website
http://fileden.com
http://snapdrive.net
http://www.streamload.com/
-Upload your MP3s to your account.
(You can also search online for songs/mp3s URLs if you don't want to upload your own mp3s. Try:
http://www.singingfish.com
http://www.musichunter.net or any other website.)
Then, go to http://pimp.myyearbook.com/mp3player.php
-Copy the URL(s) of your MP3s
-Paste them into the different boxes on the MP3 Player's website.
-Copy the HTML code/tag from the MP3 player's website (click 'Generate the Code.'
Then, when you go to compose a blog:
1) Check the "View HTML source" box (on the right/above the white text area).
2) Paste in the code
3) Add text
4) Preview/Save. (The player doesn't appear when you're editing your blog entry; it appears in preview and after saving it.)

1) Check the "View HTML source" box (on the right/above the white text area).
2) Paste in the code
3) Add text
4) Preview/Save. (The player doesn't appear when you're editing your blog entry; it appears in preview and after saving it.)

Reply:http://www.wordpress.org/ is an opensource blogging software. You can install on your website.
Reply:There are many services out there that you can use to host a blog and have your own domain. The first that comes to mind is TypePad (http://www.typepad.com/) which has everything you need to get a blog up and running on your own domain.
Also, most hosting companies allow you to register a domain when you sign up and usually have a blogging package of some sort that is pretty easy to setup. I know dreamhost (http://www.dreamhost.com/) is very easy to use.
Reply:Well if you want to "host" a blog you would need to know the fallowing.
Mysql
ASP(.net) or PHP
I recamend PHP I use it to host my tutorials.
Then when that is done you must find a place to host it! Or you can search HotScripts.com to find a pre install of Apache, PHP and Mysql. Then learn from there befor you start doing any hosting. Then when you master PHP or ASP with Mysql then you can host it on a dedicated server. I use inmotion hosting with my site.
Reply:thats looks like a wordpress blog with a different theme. To do the same get a webhosting account at a place like http://www.JuicyHosting.com or http://www.LocoDomains.com , then install wordpress, and change the theme, there are thousands of free themes
Reply:You can host a blog at http://www.dakotawebhosting.com You just need to get a domain name and their quick blogger package.

How does one make money from blogs? How does one go about it or start it?
Just how does one make money from blogs? How does one start it or go about it? Is there a specific way to do it? Just how does one make money from blogs in the first place? Where does one get started in this? Do you have to advertise and use your credit card? Are there any certain kinds of rules you have to follow? Do you have to set the blog up yourself or are there ones that help you set up it up? How do you get advertisers on your blog? Are people limited to the number of blogs online? How often do you get paid?
Thanks for the help!

Reply:Advertising Programs - Perhaps the most obvious changes in the past few months have been with the addition of a variety of viable advertising options for bloggers. The most common way bloggers seem to earn money online is via the contextual ad program from Google - Adsense. Another two popular ones with many is BlogAds. A more recent addition that many are using successfully are Chitika’s eMiniMalls and CrispAds, Text Link Ads.
Adgenta, Azoogle Ads, Intelli Txt, Peak Click, DoubleClickTribal Fusion, Adbrite, Clicksor, Industry Brains, AdHearUs, Kanoodle, AVN, Pheedo, Adknowledge, YesAdvertising, RevenuePilotTextAds, SearchFeed, Target Point, Bidvertiser, Fastclick Value Click and OneMonkey (to name just some of the options - I’m sure I’ve forgotten some) and there is a smorgasbord of options. Of course there is more to come with MSN Adcenter and YPN both in beta testing and with a variety of other advertising system currently in development (so I hear).
RSS Advertising - The past 12 months have seen some advances in RSS Advertising also. I’m yet to hear of any bloggers making big money through it to this point - but as improvements are made to the ad programs exploring this I’m sure we’ll start to see examples of it being profitable.
Sponsorship - In addition to the array of advertising programs that are available to join there is a growing awareness in the business of the value and opportunity that exists for them to advertise directly on blogs. I’m hearing more and more examples of this and have been fortunately to have a couple of ad campaigns of my own in the past month - one with Adobe a couple of weeks ago and another just completed with Ricoh for a new digicam over at my Digital Camera Blog. These are not isolated cases - as I say I know of many blogs exploring sponsorship with advertisers at present and suspect we’ll see more of it in the year ahead. Sponsorship is also happening on a post by post basis with some bloggers being paid to write on certain topics by companies - either in one off or a regular fashion - and they are able to make big money from their blogs doing so.
Affiliate Programs - There are larger affiliate programs like Amazon, Linkshare, Clickbank and Commission Junction but also literally thousands of others from the large to the very small.
Digital Assets - Increasing numbers of bloggers have been developing other digital assets to support and add revenue streams to their blogs. By this I mean that I’m increasingly seeing e-books, courses and tele-seminars being run by bloggers. My recent foray into this with the first series of the six figure blogging course that Andy and I ran a few weeks ago and have just released the study version of. This type of activity will only increase in future - in fact this week I’ve seen numerous examples of bloggers running courses.
Blog Network Opportunities - with the rise in popularity of Blog Networks - bloggers are also being presented with more places to earn an income from their blogging - by writing for and with others. While it might be difficult to get a writing gig with one of the bigger networks - there are plenty who are always asking for new bloggers to join and who are willing to pay bloggers using a variety of payment models. While there are distinct advantages of blogging for yourself - blogging for an established network who will handle a lot of the set up/promotion/admin/SEO etc has it’s advantages also. More and more bloggers are combining writing for themselves on their own blogs with taking on blog network blogs as additional income streams.
Business Blog Writing Opportunities - as blogging has risen in it’s profile as a medium more and more businesses are starting blogs. Many of these companies have internal staff take on blogging duties - but an increasing number of them are hiring specialist bloggers to come on and run their blogs. I know of a number of bloggers who in the past month or two have been approached for such paid work. Check out Bloggers for Hire if you’re looking for this type of work.
Non Blogging Writing Opportunities - Also becoming more common are bloggers being hired to write in non blogging mediums. Manolo’s recent coup of a column in the Washington Post is just one example of this as bloggers are increasingly being approached to write for newspapers, magazines and other non blog websites. Along side this is the rise of bloggers as published book authors - this is to the extent that one blogger I spoke with this week complained to me that they were one of the few bloggers than they knew who didn’t have a book deal!
Donations - Tip Jars and donation buttons have been a part of blogging for years now but this last year saw a number of bloggers go full time after fundraising drives. Perhaps the most high profile of these was Jason Kottke of kottke.org who through the generosity of his readership was able to quit his job and become a full time blogger.
Flipping Blogs - Also more common in 2005 was the practice of ‘Blog Flipping’ - or selling of blogs. This has happened both on an individual blog level (I can think of about 20 blogs that sold this year) but also on a network level (the most obvious of these being the 8 figure sale of Weblogs Inc to AOL).
Merchandising - My recent attempt to sell ProBlogger.net T-shirts wasn’t a raging success, but it is an example of how an increasing number of bloggers are attempting to make a few extra dollars from their blogs by selling branded products through programs like Cafepress (although I have to say they’ve lost one of my own orders and are being quite unresponsive to my requests to follow it up at present). While I didn’t have a lot of success with merchandising - quite a few larger blogs are seeing significant sales - especially blogs with a cult following. I’m not at liberty to discuss details - but I know of one largish blog which will see sales over $20,000 in merchandise for the calendar year of 2005.
Consulting and Speaking - While it has been popular for established consultants to add blogs to their businesses we’re also starting to see bloggers with no consulting background able to make money by charging readers for their time in consulting scenarios BECAUSE of the profile that their blogs have built them. Blogging has the ability to establish people as experts on niche topics and we all know the value of being perceived as an expert. I spoke to one blogger last month who charges himself out at over $200 an hour for speaking and consulting work - his area of expertise was something that he knew little about 18 months ago - but through his blog he’s become a leader in his field and a minor celebrity in his industry.
Reply:First you have to get lots of traffic. Advertise, send e-mails, talk about your blog in other places, then once you get lots of traffice search out an advertiser that makes sense. If your blog is mostly about cooking then look for food/pampered chef/kitchenaid type advertisers. Call companies and ask for their marketing departments. You can also seek sponsors on your blog. Good luck, you will need to get several thousand hits a day to do well.
Reply:You can't make money from blogs...oh wait I just didn't read your whole question haha--just like you do. You need to read peoples whole question before making judgements about them. Just a tip for the future

Why are my blogs not being posted after I click the "post this entry" button?
I can't seem to get my blogs posted and I don't what I'm doing wrong. Also the profile page won't accept August as my birth month or 01 as my birth date. It keeps telling me to enter a valid birth month and birth date. Mostly I want to know why my blogs won't post. I have followed all the instructions carefully and still nothing happens. Can someone with a similar problem tell me how to correct this?
I would like to post a blog on my site on occasion but at the moment I've hit a brick wall.
Why are my blogs not being posted after I click the "post this entry" button?
You need to Tag and or title your blog. And you may need to click on the HTML box if you post some info from other site. It is Best to always preview then post.. Your birthday need to match on your account and aswer page plus your 360. And if that is all matching then send Feed Back from your page.
Reply:Perhaps there is an error in the site. Problems like this do happen, however, if it is not the site's problem, then you could try going to your site and hit the refresh button. If you still can't see your post, try waiting a few days or asking your friends to go to the site and ask them if they see your posts. I've had this problem before, when my friends could see my new post, while I can't. I have to wait for 1 to 2 days before I could see my post.
Regarding your birth date, maybe you are entering the date in the wrong format. Check what kind of format the site wants. Usually beside the box, you will see something like (yyyy/mm/dd) or (dd/mm/yyyy) or (mm/dd/yyyy). mm= month, dd=days, yyyy=year. You should follow the format.

Do you read blogs??!????
Like other people's blogs all over the internet, I heard that blogs are becoming popular, but why??
Do you read blogs??!????
i do read blogs because i have one.
but only blogs of the people i know, or maybe interesting blogs.
i like blogging because i'm not a very verbal person and this is how i express my thoughts, and literature is my passion.
it's becoming popular because a lot of people are using the internet lolx
you should try too! here are recommended sites for your online journal:
www.blogger.com
www.livejournal.com
www.multiply.com
or get a Yahoo! 360!
they'll ask for the name you want for your web address then %26lt;dot%26gt; your server (example, like mine)
here's mine, but I havent updated it lately.. because I'm really kind of busy : www.invidious16.blogspot.com
enjoy! :)
Reply:i dont read them. i dont think their interesting. people are noisy and want to know about everyone elses life and people are willing to post their personal info. in them
Reply:only blogs with intelligent accounts are worth reading.. however, some view blogs as 'insipid' because they contain pointless narratives. no everyone cares about every lil' detail in your life. (:
Reply:i never read one and i don't have to start now
Reply:Yes, I do read blogs. It's kind of diary that you open for the whole world to read
Reply:I read my friend's blogs, but not many of people I don't know.
Reply:I read everything. It's a horrible addiction. LOOK! I just read your question...it's LIKE a blog right??? Maybe I need a 12 step program.
NO! I can quit whenever I want!!
Reply:Blogs can pretty much be summed up in the entry for "websites" for in that wholly remarkable book, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
"A website is a wonderful new mothed of informing people you neither know nor care about what you had for breakfast this morning without all that tedious mucking about in the postal system."
No thank you. :P
Reply:I write more then I read? However, at times I will spend allot of time reading blogs. It's kinda weird reading about other peoples lives. A sort of written voyage into someones life. Yahoo answers gives us snipets into peoples minds; where Blogs give us more details into their experiences and thought processes and life.
Reply:I don't read them. What do I care of the opinions of some crackpot sitting in his kitchen, wearing a Kool Aid stained t-shirt and a tinfoil hat?
.
Reply:I don't read them, they are just people's opinions about whatever they are writing about. Most of it doesn't apply to me, but the things I have heard about, are things that I would like to discuss, instead of just reading about, and then replying.
Blogs let people say what is on their minds without the worry that people might not agree with it. Even though people can "post" answers to it, doesn't mean that the person will see that.
I like open forum chat, where people are free to discuss things, instead of blogs where they just state their mind, and that is it.......
Reply:i'm not too sure why blogs are popular. i will surf msn blogs, but it is very rare that i actually read what happened in ones day. i do read blogs when they're funny, like ones with 50 things to do in an elevator... you can create your own yahoo blog if you like.

Difference between articles, blogs and forums?
Okay, now what is the difference between articles vs blogs and forums? I've seen several websites that show this for their navigation bar: Articles/Blogs/Forums.
I am trying to design a website. Need to understand the difference and how to setup them up as far as categories, subs and who can or can't post. Any suggestions are welcomed.
Difference between articles, blogs and forums?
A forum is whereby a question/issue is posed, and visitors to the site can respond and air their views.
Articles and blogs are different in that they do not neccesarily involve feedback, and can really be classed together. An article is a piece of writing on a aprticular topic, and can also be called a blog, so in that sense they are the same.
Forum is another issue altogether as it requires you to make it such that people can contribute their comments- whether it be about your article/blog or another topic altogether of your or their choosing.
Reply:Articles and blogs are essentially the same thing as has been mentioned, but in my mind the only difference is that an article is usually taken from a 'recognised source', a magazine, journal, newspaper, website attached to some a traditional media company (e.g. bbc.co.uk). I think a blog is the best way to define a citizen journalist from a professional one.

What kind of blogs make you angry?
I’m tired of the blogs that are all about the tiny perfect model wearing expensive things that are out of the average woman’s reach. I like blogs about real women expressing real style. I like to read about indie designers making clothing for real people.
What about you?
What kind of blogs make you angry?
Hi,
I am completely agree with you. I hate seeing all these unrealistic things women can't afford. It also bugs me when I see model that are 5'11 and weigh 120 pounds. It is so unhealthy and is a very bad example for young girls and women. It makes them question themselves. Like, "Am I skinny enough" or, "should I lose a few""?. It gets on my nerves. I have a younger sister who has an eating disorder. She thinks she is fat because of this! It gets me so upset! She is doing better though.
I also myself enjoy reading blogs about average women modeling things that we are able to afford.
Thank you so much for asking this question! It was time someone did.
Hope I could help.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXO
Reply:That too but I also hate blogs about those retarded celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Anna Nicole Smith, Michael Jackson, Paris Hilton...etc.

What kind of blogs do you like to read?
I'm creating a blog from scratch and I want to write/talk about something people are interested in. There are enough entertainment blogs, so...that is a no-can-do.
Tell me, what kind of blogs do you like to read?
What kind of blogs do you like to read?
Thought provoking blogs that tell of a person's stance on political issues, opinions on books they've read, etc. Good luck.
Reply:anything really but mostly i read ones that have something of the writer in them, opinions and such. the way i see it the more opinions i see the more i understand the folks around me and that way i can take my own writing in different directions rather then just my own point of view
Reply:Well................video games? Like HALO!
Reply:I read anything that has to do with NASA--and all science--
Reply:Anything amusing. I read a lot of different marketing and copy writing blogs for work. They bore me most of the time but they always perk me up when they're amusing and often I'll send a link to anything really funny to myself at home so I can pass it around.
Reply:Halo 3,Halo Wars,Gears of War,Call of Duty 4,and anything game related. Videos on youtube that are truly good and original.
Reply:educational, and real-life stories (non-fiction).
Reply:blogs with free download album (muusik) links
me like xD

My Yahoo 360 Blogs do not show up for anyone?
There are some bugs in the Yahoo! 360 this past week and this is a few of them.
The 360 team are working on getting them all fixed. You can send them feedback at http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/360/cg... every day until they get it fixed.

Blogger: Collapsing Several Blogs Into One?
Here's my dilemma:
I currently have five blogs on Blogger that I don't really use anymore. I would like to delete those blogs and move the posts from them into one central blog. I've searched all through the Blogger help pages and was unable to find anything. Can anybody help?
Blogger: Collapsing Several Blogs Into One?
Copy and paste
Reply:Yes, when you actually think of it that's very logical. Only problem is if the blog was made for a specific topic, but I don't think it's going to look wrong. Report It
Reply:On Google Groups, go to Blogger Help and ask it there http://groups.google.com/group... thats your best bet. The people there are usally very helpful Report It
